A Lovely Tour of Shkoder

Learn about Albania's history, traditions, local cuisine, and prominent attractions on this one-day tour. Explore Shkoder, the Rozafa Castle, and the bridge in Mes Hamlet with a local guide.

Shkoder is a lovely city full of light and activities, with cafes, shops, and breathtaking scenery around every turn. Enjoy a full day of sightseeing and driving throughout the city, taking in old architecture and the magnificent Rozafa Castle.

First, go to Wura e Mesit (the middle bridge), a bridge in Mes hamlet on the Kir River, about five km northeast of Shkoder. This bridge connects the city to the historic site of Drisht, which contains significant Roman and mediaeval architectural remains.

The journey's highlight is visiting the famed Rozafa Castle, the original core erected by the Illyrians in the 4th century BC. The stronghold was later expanded during the Middle Ages and the Venetian period (1396-1478).

You can see Shkoder, its lake, and its mountains from a unique vantage point here.
